  1. Simon Heffer-Daily Telegraph. For being a national treasure while talking the most wonderful common sense. Even though he calls himself a Roundhead he has the spirit of a Cavalier in attacking Roundhead behaviour as we describe this.

  2. Giles Coren-Times. For being a quirky thorn in the side of the Roundheads and for encouraging Boris to drop his cycling helmet. Also for his dedication to good food and drink in the most entertaining of manners

  3. Jeff Randall-Telegraph. For mercilessly carrying out analytical and cogent destruction of fatuous arguments and useless politicians. A real star in the firmament

  4. Dr Eamonn Butler-Times and Adam Smith Institute. For pointing out with great clarity and force malevolent  advertising on behalf of the TV licensing authorities in an Orwellian campaign.

  5. Boris Johnson-Mayor of London. For being Boris. For not being Ken. For bringing optimism and good will where there was none before. Ave Boris!

  6. Jeremy Clarkson -Sunday Times, Sun et al. For plain speaking, for standing up against ridiculous bureaucracy and for entertaining us all enormously in the process. A true and hearty Cavalier. A nominee for sainthood in the Cavalier’s pantheon of Greats if ever there was one.

  7. Sir Terry Wogan-BBC and newspaper contributor. For persistently talking sense in the most engaging way, while making us laugh at the same time. A Cavalier in heart and spirit loved by us all.

  8. Vicki Woods-Times. For sticking up for the village pub with well argued prose and sound reasoning. Always a good read too. Cheers Vicki!

  9. Hilary Rose-Times. For rightly questioning why TFL can pull over motorists with the help of the police to carry out surveys and for other astute observations in her column. Hilary for Commissioner of the Met!

  13. Sir Andrew Green-Migrationwatch. Once a lone voice. Now being listened to with increasing attention for his refusal to accept PC attitudes and lies about immigration. For maintaining a reasoned and reasonable attitude throughout.

  14. David Lowe-Sun Journalist. For exposing PC nonsense. Readable, concise and forceful.

  15. Richard Littlejohn-Daily Mail. For his unfailing good sense and telling attacks on ludicrous Roundhead behaviour. Always readable, always amusing, always hits the target. A real Laughing Cavalier hero. The more opprobrium that is heaped upon his innocent head by the Guardianistas, the more we admire him.

  16. Libby Purves-Times and BBC. For providing a consistently sensible voice in a mad world. For identifying “News Rage” as a result of the latest idiocy by the state. One of our favourite aunties.

  29. Robin Page-Countryman and journalist. A breath of fresh country air whenever he speaks or writes about bigotry and bureaucracy in the countryside. Much admired by all Laughing Cavaliers from the country ( and those of us from the cities too, come to that).

  30. Bernard Hogan-Howe-Chief Constable Merseyside. For chasing real criminals with good and old-fashioned determination. A fine example of real policing. Hope Ian Blair is keeping his seat warm for you, Sir!

  31. Nigel Lawson-for attacking global warming zealotry and exposing exaggeration and false assumptions in that field with logic and intellectual rigour.

  32. Nigella Lawson-for encouraging us to have more pudding rather than telling us to eat up our greens. For being fun and making eating food fun rather than a curse that will kill us.

  33. Amanda Platel-Daily Mail. Beautifully barbed comments about Roundhead nonsense. Observant, witty and well-informed.

  34. Max Hastings-Daily Mail. For always talking good sense. For pointing out the deficiencies of the governing class and defending the armed services.

  43. Harry Mount-Times. For pointing out that Environmentalism is the new, very strict, secular faith that must not be criticised. Well worth listening too on this and other subjects.

  51. Declan Ganley-Founder of Civitas and organiser of the Irish “No” vote on EU referendum. To whom we all owe a debt of great gratitude for halting the seemingly unstoppable rush towards a United States of Europe. Thank you, Sir! You may have just saved us all from that fate.
