Thank Goodness! The £10 Billion we contribute to the EU has never been better spent.
At last the Finns can promote the tango-at our expense.
The EU pays Intertango £850,000 to enable Finnish musicians to further “the internationalisation of Finnish tango”
And there we were thinking that the Argentineans were doing a pretty good job of internationalising the tango. Clearly we were wrong.
Obviously the uniquely Finnish version of the tango, which might, we would think, be somewhat restricted by reindeer skin boots and heavy fur coats, needs a world wide audience and those wonderful brains in Brussels have decided that we should pay for the encouragement of a sort of Latin Lapp Dancing.
Not that we have anything whatever against the Finns. They are an admirable people, courageous, artistic, at one with the wonderful wilderness of their beautiful country and generally good eggs.
What we are against are those lunatics in Brussels who are wasting our money yet again.
Most of your VAT goes to the EU now-£10 Billion a year at the moment. For 13 years the auditors have refused to sign off the EU accounts because of suspicions of widespread fraud and mismanagement. If they were a company, all the directors would have been sacked long ago.
So just why do we put up with this disgraceful state of affairs and why are our elected representatives not kicking up an unholy fuss over this state of affairs?
Is there no major political party out there who will defend our interests against EU fraud, waste and the hubris of unelected commissioners living high on the hog while they lecture us on how we should behave? We feel unprotected by the majority of our politicians.
Are there no men and women of honour left in Parliament?
